Christmas Season Prayers

My Christmas Prayer for You

Christmas Faith

May Jesus,
the newborn Son
of God and Mary,
dwell in your heart
and increase
your trust in him.

  Christmas Hope

May your trust in God
strengthen you
in your daily life
so that you
can respond to him
with your whole heart,
as Mary did.

  Christmas Love

May God reward you
for your kindness
by warming his own love
and deepening your
communion with Jesus
throughout the coming year.

Blessing of a Christmas Tree

God of all creation, we praise You for this tree which brings beauty and memories and the promise of life to our home. May Your blessings be upon all who gather around this tree, all who keep the Christmas festival by its lights. We wait for the coming of the Christ, the days of everlasting justice and peace. You are our God, living and reigning, for ever and ever. Amen.

Gifts You Can Give Year Round

The Gift of Praise
Appropriate mention, right in front of the other
fellow, of superior qualities or of a
job or deeds well done.

The Gift of Consideration
Putting yourself in the other's shoes and
thus providing your genuine understanding
of his side of the case.

The Gift of Concession
Humbly saying at just the right point,
"I am sorry, you are right and I am wrong."

The Gift of Gratitude
Never forgetting to say "Thank You"
and never failing to mean it.

The Gift of Attention
When the other fellow speaks, listen attentively.
If his words are directed to you
personally, meet his eye squarely.

The Gift of Inspiration
Plant seeds of courage and action
in the other person's heart.

The Gift of Personal Presence
In sickness, in trouble, or in great joy,
there is nothing quite equal to your
personal _expression of sympathy or
congratulations. Resolve to give these gifts
each day. You will be pleasantly surprised
at what you will receive in return.

Thy Kingdom Come

Thou hope of all the lowly! To thirsting souls how kind!
Gracious to all who seek Thee, Oh, what to those who find!

My tongue but lisps Thy praises, yet praise be my employ;
Love makes me bold to praise Thee, for Thou art all my joy.

In Thee my soul delighting, findeth her only rest;
And so in Thee confiding, may all the world be blest!

Dwell with us, and our darkness will flee before Thy light,
Scatter the world's deep midnight, and till it with delight.

O all mankind, behold Him, and seek His love to know;
And let your hearts, in seeking, be freed with love and glow.

O come, O come, Great Monarch, Eternal glory Thine;
The longing world waits for Thee; Arise, arise, and shine!

The Star

High in the heavens on that frigid night shone a brilliant, dazzling light;
It could be seen from near and far, that shining, vivid, Christmas star.

Beaming from its supernal place, it summoned men from every race,
To worship in that lowly stall; Almighty God, an Infant small.

And from the hills the shepherds came to see their King, and praise His Name,
While there great kings came from afar, guided by that lustrous star.

And it was by that splendid ray, that heaven's angels found their way
To the crib of that Sacred Boy, thus to sing in bursting joy.

On Christmas night it still is seen, that magnificent and brilliant beam;
It beckons us to worship there, to offer Him our hearts--in prayer.

Come to me, O Divine Savior, vouchsafe to be born in my heart. Grant that, taught by Thine example, and assisted by Thy grace, I may be poor in spirit and humble in heart. Keep me chaste and obedient. I wish to live but for thee, and to do all things purely for love of Thee. O Mary, my Advocate and Mother, obtain by thy prayers, forgiveness of my past offenses and holy perseverance unto death. St. Joseph, do thou also pray for me, that I may become daily more pleasing to Jesus. Amen.

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.

(It is piously believed that whoever recites the above prayer fifteen times a day from the feast of St. Andrew (Nov. 30th) until Christmas will obtain what is asked.)
