Prayer for Motherhood
O good St. Gerard, powerful intercessor before God and Wonder-worker of our day, I call upon thee and seek thy aid. Thou who on earth didst always fulfill God's design, help me to do the Holy Will of God. Beseech the Master of Life, from Whom all paternity proceedeth to render me fruitful in offspring, that I may raise up children to God in this life and heirs to the Kingdom of His glory in the world to come. Amen.
Dear Redemptorist Saint, model Priest and
Religious, compassionate toward suffering Mothers, intercede for
this expectant Mother. Let her not be selfish like thhose who are
willing to put an end to the life they bear within themselves.
Instead let her remain ever conscious that she is privileged to
be the instrument through whom God brings another life into the
world. Encourage her for the good of her child and the glory of
the Lord of life. Amen.
God, by Your grace St. Gerard persevered in imitating Christ in His poverty and humility. Through his intercession, grant that we may faithfully follow our vocation and reach that perfection which You held out to us in Your Son. Amen.
Prayer for a Special Intention
Saint Gerard, during your life you extended your help to the unfortunate and poor around you. Help me in my present need (mention you intention here). Give me the insight to recognize the presence of Jesus in the sufferings and troubles of others. Let not my urgent need for help cause me to think only of myself. Following your example, uniting my prayers and sufferings with Jesus on the Cross, may I be transformed into a person of love and compassion. St. Gerard, pray for me. Amen.
Prayer for Help and Healing
St. Gerard, you lived your life among people who asked for your prayers and blessings in the many concerns of their lives. In your kindness you presented their needs to Jesus and obtained an answer to their prayers. Help all those who call upon your intercession to experience the healing presence of Christ within them. Our confidence is strengthened by your words of encouragement, "Trust with lively faith that you will receive everything from God." Be a friend to us, St. Gerard, and help us to walk in the light of Christ. Following your example, may our lives proclaim the love and mercy of Jesus in all our actions. Amen.

Brother Gerard,
you spent your life in union with Jesus Christ, help us to keep
our eyes fixed on Jesus.
Brother Gerard, you desired to give yourself to Christ in the
religious life, obtain for us the grace to follow our vocation in
life.
Brother Gerard, you were filled with empathy for the poor and
suffering, obtain for us the gift of compassion for those in
need.
Brother Gerard, your prayers to the Lord brought healing to the
sick, obtain for us the power to bring the healing presence of
Jesus to those in need.
Brother Gerard, the Passion of Jesus moved you to imitate His
Redemptive Love, obtain for us the grace to accept our sufferings
for the salvation of the world.
Brother Gerard, you brought back to the Church those who were
abandoned, obtain for us the zeal to welcome people back to the
community of the faith.
Brother Gerard, you were devoted to the Blessed Sacrament, obtain
for us a vibrant love for the Holy Eucharist.
Saint Gerard, your intercession is felt in the lives of many who
call upon you in their need. Hear us as we lift our voice in
prayer. Obtain for us a greater love for Jesus Christ. Help us to
imitate your generous love for the poor and suffering. Assist us
with your prayers and obtain for us the help we need. Amen.
Prayer for a Sick Child
O St. Gerard, who, like the Saviour, loved children so tenderly and by your prayers freed many from disease and even death, listen to us who are pleading for our sick child. We thank God for the great gift of our son/daughter, and ask Him to restore our child to health if such be His holy will. This favor, we beg of you, through your love for all children and mothers. Amen.
In Thanksgiving to St. Gerard for Some Favor Received
Loving and caring God, I thank you for giving St. Gerard to Your Church as our protector and friend. By his example, he showed us how to love and trust You. Through his intercession, You have granted me the answer to my prayers. I offer You my most heartfelt gratitude for answering my request (state your request). Help me always to be mindful of Your constant care for me. May I show my thankfulness by showing kindness and compassion to those around me. Amen.
Great St. Gerard,
beloved servant of Jesus Christ, you are a perfect imitator of
our meek and humble Saviour, and a devoted child of the Mother of
God. Enkindle in my heart one spark of that heavenly fire of
charity that glowed in yours and made you a beacon of love.
Glorious St. Gerard, like your divine Master, you bore without
murmur or complaint the calumnies of wicked men when falsely
accused of crime, and you have been raised up by God as the
patron and protector of expectant mothers. Preserve me from
dangers, and shield the child I now carry. Pray that my baby may
be brought safely to the light of day and receive the sacrament
of baptism.

Novena to St. Gerard
Most Blessed Trinity, I, Your child, thank You for all the gifts and privileges which You granted to St. Gerard, especially for those virtues with which You adorned him on earth and the glory which You now impart to him in heaven. Accomplish Your work, O Lord, so that Your kingdom may come about the earth. Through his merits, in union with those of Jesus and Mary, grant me the grace for which I now ask...(mention your intention).
And you, my powerful intercessor, St. Gerard, always so ready to help those who have recourse to you, pray for me. Come before the throne of Divine Mercy and do not leave without being heard. To you I confide this important and urgent affair. Graciously take my cause in hand, and do not let me end this novena without having experienced in some way the effects of your intercession. Amen.
For a
Mother with Child 
O almighty and everlasting God, through the Holy Spirit, You prepared the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mary to be a worthy dwelling place of Your Divine Son. Through the name of the Holy Spirit, You sanctified St. John the Baptist, while still in his mother's womb. Hear the prayers of your humble servant who implores You, through the intercession of St. Gerard, to protect me from the dangers of childbearing and to watch over the child with which You blessed me. May this child be cleansed by the saving water of baptism and, after a Christian life on earth, may we, both mother and child, attain everlasting bliss in heaven. Amen.
