General Intercessions to Our Lady

![]() |
May we be assisted, we beseech Thee, O Lord, by the worshipful intercession of Thy glorious Mother, the ever-Virgin Mary; that we who have been enriched by her perpetual blessings, may be delivered from all dangers, and through her loving kindness made to be of one heart and mind; who livest and reignest world without end. Amen. (3 yrs. Indulgence; plenary, under usual conditions for 1 month's recitation) |

When God in His mercy
was pleased to dwell among us, you alone,
O Mary, were
privileged to offer the King of kings and the Lord of lords a
worthy dwelling in your virginal abode. Truly even God was
delighted to remain with you. Rejoice, Virgin most blessed,
Mother undefiled, all shall call
you blessed. Mary, the whole world reveres you as the holiest
Shrine of the living God, for in you the salvation of the world
saw its dawning. The Son of God was pleased to take human
form from you. You have broken down the wall of hatred, the
barrier between heaven and earth which was set up by man's first
disobedience.
In you heaven met earth when divinity and humanity were joined in one Person, the God-Man. Mother of God, we sing your praises, but we must praise you even more. Our speech is too feeble to honor you as we ought, for no tongue is eloquent enough to express your excellence. Mary, most powerful, most holy, worthy of all love! Your name brings new life, and the thought of you arouses love in the hearts of those devoted to you. Amen.

Soul of Mary, sanctify
me, Heart of Mary, inflame me. Hands of Mary,
support me.
Feet of Mary, direct me. Immaculate eyes of Mary, look upon
me. Lips of Mary, speak for me. Sorrows of Mary,
strengthen me. O Mary, hear me. In the Wound of the Heart of
Jesus, hide me. Let me never be separated from thee. From
my enemy defend me. At the hour of my death call me. And
bid me come to thine Immaculate Heart; that thus I may come to
the Heart of Jesus, and there with the saints, praise thee for
all eternity. Amen
Dear Blessed Mother, help me say yes to God as you did. Bring
Jesus to visit me as you did with Elizabeth. Help me to love your
son more & more, as you loved Him. Help me to search
constantly for Jesus, as did you & St. Joseph, & to be
jubilant when I find Him present in my heart.
Dear Mother, please tell Jesus thank you for giving you to me as my mother while he hung on the cross. Oh, what a gift! I want so to be poured into your mold and imitate your 10 virtues of a lively FAITH, deep HUMILITY, angelic KINDNESS, ardent LOVE, blind OBEDIENCE, heroic PATIENCE, unceasing PRAYER, unsurpassing PURITY, constant SELF-DENIAL, and heavenly WISDOM. But, dear mother, I am weak & sinful. Pray for me. Amen

Holy Mary, our Mother, today, each day, and in our last hour, we entrust ourselves entirely to your loving and singular care. We place in your hands: our entire hope and happiness, our every anxiety and difficulty, our whole lives. May our every endeavor be directed and guided according to the Will of your Son, which is your will--by the aid of your prayers and special favor with God. Amen.

Holy Mary, if thou wilt, hear thy suppliant; I put myself under the shelter of thy shield. When falling in the slippery path, thou art my smooth supporting hand staff. There is no hound in fleetness or in chase, north wind or rapid river, as quick as the Mother of Christ to the bed of death, to those who are entitled to her kindly protection. Amen. |

Mother, I commend and entrust to you all that goes to make up earthly progress, asking that it should not be one-sided, but that it should create conditions for the full spiritual advancement of individuals, families, communities, and nations. I commend to you the unborn, the poor, the suffering, the sick and the handicapped, the aging, and the dying. I ask you to reconcile those in sin, to heal those in pain, and to uplift those who have lost their hope and joy. Show to those who struggle in doubt the light of Christ your Son. Amen.

For
Acquiring Virtues
O Mary, Mother of Mercy, others may ask of you what they please--bodily health, worldly goods and advantages--but I ask for whatever you see to be most needful for me and what is most in conformity with your pure heart. You are so humble; obtain for me humility and love of contempt. You were so patient under the sufferings and trials of life; obtain for me patience and fortitude. You were most charitable toward your neighbor; obtain for me charity toward all, and particularly toward those who are in any way my enemies. You are filled with the love of God; obtain for me the gift of His pure and holy love.
You are entirely united to the Divine Will; obtain for me complete conformity to the Will of God in all things. You are the holiest of all creatures, O Mary; make me a saint.
Love for me is not wanting on your part; you can do all and you have the will to obtain all for me. The only thing, then, that can prevent me from receiving your favors is neglect on my part in having recourse to you, or too little confidence in your intercession. These gifts I ask of you, hoping with the greatest confidence to receive them, O Mary, my Mother, my hope, my love, my life, my refuge, my help, and my consolation. Amen.

Dear and loving Mother Mary, keep me in your holy protection. Guard my mind, my heart, and my senses, that I may not be stained with sin. Sanctify my thoughts, affections, words and actions, that I may please you, and your Son Jesus, my God, and may reach heaven with you. Jesus and Mary, give me your holy blessing. Amen. |

O most holy, most
amiable and most glorious Virgin, Mother of God. Mistress and
Advocate to
whom we
are all vowed and consecrated, making it our glory to belong to
thee as children, servants and slaves for time and eternity,
behold! with common accord, we throw ourselves at thy feet to
renew our vows of fidelity and servitude to thee and to pray thee
that as we belong entirely to thee, thou wouldst offer, dedicate,
consecrate and immolate to the Sacred Heart of our adorable
Jesus, ourselves and all that we are, all that we shall do and
suffer, without reserving anything for ourselves.
We wish to have no other liberty except that of loving Him, no other glory except that of belonging to Him as slaves and victims of His pure love, no other will or power but that of pleasing Him and contenting Him in everything, even at the price of our lives. And since thou hast all power over the amiable Heart of thy Divine Son, grant, O most charitable Mother, that He may receive and accept this consecration which we make today in thy presence, and through thy mediation, with the protestations of our fidelity, relying on His grace and thy help, which we beg thee not to refuse us.
O, our sweet Hope, make us feel thy power over the amiable Heart of Jesus, and use thy influence on our behalf to lodge us there always. Pray Him to exercise His sovereign empire over our souls, making His love reign in our hearts, in order that He may consume us and transform us entirely into Himself. May He be our Father, our Spouse, our Protection, our Treasure, our Delight, our Love and our All in all things; may He destroy and annihilate in us all that is of ourselves and put in place of it all that is of Himself, in order that we may be able to be pleasing to Him. May He be the support of our powerlessness, the strength of our weakness, the joy of all our sadness.
O Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, repair all our failings, supply for all that is wanting to us, burn our hearts in your holy ardors; consume all our coldness and cowardice in loving and serving you, since we wish to make all our holiness and happiness consist in living and dying in the state of slaves of the adorable Heart of Jesus, and servants of his holy Mother. Amen

Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue
Lovely
Lady dressed in blue, teach me how to pray!
God was just your little Boy, tell me what to say!
Did you lift Him up sometimes, gently on your knee?
Did you sing to Him the way Mother does to me?
Did you hold His Hand at night? Did you ever try
Telling stories of the world? O! And did He cry?
Do you really think He cares if I tell Him things
Little things that happen? And do the angels' wings
Make a noise? And can He hear me if I speak low?
Does He understand me now? Tell me, for you know.
Lovely Lady dressed in blue, teach me how to pray!
God was just your little Boy, and you know the way.

Prayer of St. Aloysius to the Blessed Mother
O Holy Mary, my Mistress, into thy blessed trust and special keeping, into the bosom of thy tender mercy, this day, every day of my life, and at the hour of my death, I commend my soul and body; to thee I entrust all my hopes and consolations, all my trials and miseries, my life and the end of my life, that through thy most holy intercession and thy merits, all my actions may be ordered and disposed according to thy will and that of thy divine Son. Amen.

Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you; through you salvation was brought to the world. Enrich us with the wealth of your graces and with your loving consolations, relieve our troubled souls. Watch over us, Mother, and protect us from evil; be with us to the very end and we shall find eternal life. We beg you let those who invoke your help in their needs find grace with God. Show us your mercy, Mother, and we shall be refined on this earthly pilgrimage of life. Amen.

Silence of Mary
Holy Mary, Mother of God, you who treasured all things and pondered them carefully in your heart, teach us that deep, interior silence which enfolded you throughout your lifetime --
the
silence of the Annunciation, of faith, mission and obedience;
the silence of the Visitation, of humility, service and praise;
the silence of Bethlehem, of birth, incarnation and wonder;
the silence of the flight into Egypt, of perseverance, hope and
trust;
the silence of Nazareth, of simplicity, intimacy and communion;
the silence of Mt. Calvary, of courage, death and abandonment;
the silence of Easter, of resurrection, jubilation and glory;
the silence of Ascension, of fulfillment, transformation and new
creation;
the silence of Pentecost, of peace, power and love.
Mary, in your wisdom, teach us that silence which enables us to listen to the small, still voice of our God;
which
compels us to worship Him alone in spirit and in truth;
which empowers us to acknowledge our nothingness and exult
confidently in our Savior;
which frees us to lose ourselves in unceasing adoration of the
God who is Infinite Love.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and always, that we may enter into that silence of yours which unites us to Jesus, your Son, in the mystery of His silence before the Father of mercies. Amen.
