| O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee; And I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishment, But most of all, because I have offended Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy Grace, to sin no more, and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen. |
| O my God, because You are so good, I am very sorry that I have sinned against You. With the help of Your Grace, I will try not to sin again. Amen. |
| O Lord, You know how many and how great are my failings. You know how often I sin, from day to day, from hour to hour, in what I do, and in what I fail to do. O Lord my God, I resolve no more to provoke You, and to desire nothing more than You, for You are alone truly lovable. If I should offend You again, please grant me the strength to find favor anew in Your eyes and to lead a life more pleasing to You. Amen. |

Lord, from You flows true and continual kindness. You had cast us off and justly so, but in Your mercy You forgave us. You were at odds with us, and You reconciled us. You had set a curse on us, and You blessed us. You had banished us from the garden, and You called us back again. You took away the fig leaves that had been an unsuitable garment, and You clothed us in a cloak of great value. You flung wide the prison gates, and You gave the condemned a pardon. You sprinkled clean water on us, and You washed away the dirt. |
| Lord Jesus Christ, King of kings, You have power over life and death. You know even things that are uncertain and obscure, and our very thoughts and feelings are not hidden from You. Cleanse me from my secret faults, for I have done wrong and You saw it....You know how weak I am, both in soul and in body. Give me strength, O Lord, in my frailty and sustain me in my sufferings. Grant me a prudent judgment, dear Lord, and let me always be mindful of Your blessings. Let me retain until the end Your grace that has protected me until now. Amen. |

Please Forgive Me God, forgive my incompleteness: not growing in Christ, not expanding my knowledge of the Scriptures, not developing all my talents. God, forgive my disinterest: a lack of concern for needs around me, apathy regarding the lostness of millions, blindness to hurts I could help heal. God, forgive my dishonesty: taking, the easy way rather than the right way, speaking in one manner while living in another, silencing truth to preserve tranquility, settling for less than what is best, loving tradition more than obeying your pioneering Spirit. God, forgive my loudness: talking when I should be listening, proclaiming when I should be studying, busying myself with new tasks when I should be finding a quiet place to rest. God, forgive my silence: feeling love and failing to whisper it, reeling with joy and not shouting hallelujah, knowing truth and forfeiting an opportunity to share it, sensing a need to share my faith and squelching the impulse. Before Confession Lord Jesus, open my mind and my heart to Your Holy Spirit. Show me where I am failing to love Your Heavenly Father. Show me where I am failing to love You, failing to accept You as my Saviour, failing to seek You and yield to You as my Lord. Show me where I am failing to love the Holy Spirit, failing to be open and to be led by Your divine wisdom and love. Lord Jesus, show me where I am failing to love any one of Your brothers and sisters as You love me. Show me where I am failing to love myself as You love me. Show me where I am putting myself before God. Show me where I am seeking my own desires at the expense of a brother or a sister. Your power finds its strength in my weakness; without You I can do nothing. Amen. |

PASSIONS AND TO BECOME A SAINT Dear Jesus, in the Sacrament of the Altar, be forever thanked and praised. Love, worthy of all celestial and terrestrial love! Who, out of infinite love for me, ungrateful sinner, didst assume our human nature, didst shed Thy most Precious Blood in the cruel scourging, and didst expire on a shameful Cross for our eternal welfare! Now illumined with lively faith, with the outpouring of my whole soul and the fervor of my heart, I humbly beseech Thee, through the infinite merits of Thy painful sufferings, give me strength and courage to destroy every evil passion which sways my heart, to bless Thee by the exact fulfillment of my duties, supremely to hate all sin, and thus to become a Saint. Amen. |

OF CHARITY O good and merciful Savior, it is the
desire of my heart to return Thee love for love. My
greatest sorrow is that Thou art not loved by all men,
and in particular, that my heart is so cold, so selfish,
so ungrateful. Deeply sensible of my own weakness and
poverty, I trust that Thy own grace will enable me to
offer Thee an act of pure love. And I wish to offer Thee
this act of love in reparation for the coldness and
neglect that are shown to Thee in the Sacrament of Thy
love by Thy creatures. O Jesus, my sovereign good, I love
Thee, not for the love of the reward which Thou hast
promised to those who love Thee, but purely for Thyself.
I love Thee above all things that can be loved, above all
pleasures, and in fine above myself and all that is not
Thee, protesting in the presence of Heaven and earth that
I will live and die purely and simply in Thy holy love,
and that if to love Thee thus I must endure persecution
and suffering, I am perfectly satisfied, and I will ever
say with St. Paul: O Jesus, the Supreme Master of all hearts, I love Thee, I adore Thee, I praise Thee, I thank Thee, because I am now all Thine own. Rule over me, and transform my soul, into the likeness of Thyself, so that it may bless and glorify Thee forever in the abode of the Saints. Amen. Let us pray: O' Almighty and Eternal GOD, who dost wish that all souls do penance and confess their sins, be converted rather than be lost, turn away the anger of Thy indignation from me Thy sinful servant and at the sight of my body being chastised and scourged, as it is now about to be mercifully set me, and those for whom I pray, free from the hateful influences of the devil, forgive our sins; and weaken more and more the power of those temptations which so often attack us, and would drag us down again into the very sins which we now so much deplore. CCC 1473: The forgiveness of sin and restoration of communion with God entail the remission of the eternal punishment of sin, but temporal punishment of sin remains. While patiently bearing sufferings and trials of all kinds and, when the day comes, serenely facing death, the Christian must strive to accept this temporal punishment of sin as a grace. He should strive by works of mercy and charity, as well as by prayer and the various practices of penance, to put off completely the "old man" and to put on the "new man."
