Webmaster Memberships

Fidelity: The Fidelity grade is used by PetersNet to indicate the degree to which a web site represents sound, authentic Catholicism -- or fidelity to the mind of the Church. This is by far the most important grade given by PetersNet. If a site is not characterized by this fidelity, users deserve to be forewarned.
Resources: The value of a site's resources is probably the most important factor after Fidelity. The Resources grade measures how worthwhile a site is from this point of view. The highest grades go to sites which self-generate a substantial amount of useful Catholic material; but sites which devote themselves to external links can also earn high grades if their links are well-organized and well-presented enough to make the site an especially valuable resource gateway.
Implementation: The grade for Implementation is automatically computed as the average of four personally-assigned sub-grades. Because it is an average, it includes plusses and minuses at each grade level (except F). The four categories include: Purpose, Maintenance, Organization, Appearance.

My Memberships in Catholic Societies

Legion of Mary The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with well over 3 million active members in almost every country of the world. It has been active in the United States since 1931, has been approved by the last 6 Popes, and was endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members.

Members become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a balanced program of prayer and service. Works include door-to-door evangelization, parishioner visitation, prison ministry, visitation of the sick or aged, crowd contact, religious education, visiting the newly baptized, Pilgrim Virgin Statue rotations, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the parish community. Legionaries are under the guidance of a spiritual director named by the pastor. The Legion is, in essence, an extension of the heart and hands of the pastor.

Association of the Miraculous Medal Association of the Miraculous Medal: We bring Mary conceived without sin to the Catholics of North America. She reveals God's fatherly love and her own motherly concern.
  • We invite members to greater holiness,
  • attending to their pastoral and spiritual needs
  • forming them in the Christian life
  • involving them in the apostolate of charity especially toward the clergy and the most abandoned.

Society of the Little Flower The Mission of the Society of the Little Flower is to promote devotion to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus. Through prayers and donations, Friends of St. Thérèse enable the Carmelites to continue her "Shower of Roses" in their ministries and in the education of seminarians.

Militia Immaculata The Militia of the Immaculata (MI) is a worldwide evangelization movement founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe in 1917 that encourages total consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary as a means of spiritual renewal for individuals and society. The MI movement is open to all Catholics. It employs prayer as the main weapon in the spiritual battle with evil. MIs also immerse themselves in apostolic initiatives throughout society, either individually or in groups, to deepen the knowledge of the Gospel and our Catholic Faith in themselves and in others. Marian consecration is a formal act of self-giving that does not stop at Mary, but is Christ-directed. It is really consecration to Jesus. The MI's mission is "To Lead Every Individual With Mary to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus."

The Blue Army Our Lady gave the means to change the world, to turn the hearts of men and women back to God, to end the wars and strife, to end the horror of abortion. We must renew our commitment to fulfilling the requests Our Lady made at Fatima. We must spread her message throughout the world and assist men and women of good will to respond to her requests. You can support us through your prayers and sacrifices for the success of our work.

The Rosary Confraternity is a spiritual association, the members of which strive to pray the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary during the course of each week. They form a union of countless hundreds of thousands of the faithful throughout the world who, along with their own intentions, include the intentions and needs of all its members, while they in turn pray for them. As Pope Leo XIII said in his encyclical on the Confraternity, "whenever a person fulfills his obligation of reciting the Rosary according to the rule of the Confraternity, he includes in his intentions all its members, and they in turn render him the same service many times over."

The Catholic League The Catholic League is the nation’s largest Catholic civil rights organization. Founded in 1973 by the late Father Virgil C. Blum, S.J., the Catholic League defends the right of Catholics – lay and clergy alike – to participate in American public life without defamation or discrimination. Motivated by the letter and the spirit of the First Amendment, the Catholic League works to safeguard both the religious freedom rights and the free speech rights of Catholics whenever and wherever they are threatened.

Divine Mercy Prayer League The Divine Mercy Prayer League celebrates its third anniversary in April 2001. It was founded by Father Winrich with a group of pilgrims in Poland shortly after attending Divine Mercy Sunday at Saint Faustina's convent in April 1998. Father Winrich says that the church in this perilous age needs to be united, and the ones to do that are its leaders. He called on the pilgrims to begin praying for unity and to start an association that would promote prayer for unity. We call ourselves "the board" and meet occasionally to pray for the success of the league's intentions. The goal of the prayer league is to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the unity of Roman Catholic church leaders with the Holy Father, John Paul II.

Friends of Our Lady Apostolate: The Mission of the Apostolate is to bring as many souls as possible to Total Consecration to Jesus, through Mary, by fostering the Saint Louis deMontfort Total Consecration devotion worldwide, and by providing free Total Consecration packages to those willing to consecrate their lives to Jesus, through Mary.

All Apostolate Members received Our Holy Father, Pope John Paul ll's Apostolic Blessing in March, 2002, on the occasion of the second Anniversary of our Apostolate, for the work of all members in fostering this devotion to Jesus, through Mary.

Confraternity of Holy Cross: A confraternity founded by Bishop Edward Slattery. Membership includes clergy and lay people who suffer from chronic illness in the Diocese of Tulsa, OK. Our suffering is offered up daily to Our Lord for the sanctification and purity of priests all over the world. A Morning Offering is prayed daily for these intentions.

"Be apostles now, apostles of prayer! Offer everything you are doing each day in union with the Heart of our Lord for what He wishes, the spread of the Kingdom for the salvation of souls."
The Apostleship of Prayer: began in France in 1844. At that time Fr. Francis X. Gautrelet told a group of Jesuit seminarians who were eager to work on the missions. In 1861 the first Messenger of the Sacred Heart was published. Besides promoting devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, this periodical also tried to develop in its readers an awareness of the needs of the Universal Church. In time the Pope himself proposed a particular monthly intention and since 1929 a specific mission intention has also been proposed to the faithful for their prayerful attention.

On its 100th anniversary in 1944, Pope Pius XII gave thanks to God for the Apostleship of Prayer, calling it “one of the most efficacious means for the salvation of souls, since it concerns prayer and prayer in common.” He commended the organization for its goal: “to pray assiduously for the needs of the Church and to try to satisfy them through daily offering.”

Holy Souls Crusade

The Holy Souls Crusade

The Holy Souls Crusade was started in 2002 and their first retreat was held in Athlone, Ireland, on November 2nd - All Souls day. This led to the formation of an ad hoc committee to develop the work and plan for its future growth. It is hoped that the association will grow in strength, so much so that there will be an association in every county in Ireland and in other parts of the world. The Holy Souls Crusade already has members in other countries and the vision is for continual growth around the world.

Keep this vision for the Holy Souls Crusade in your prayers, as the more the needs of the Holy Souls can be promoted in Ireland and abroad, the greater the amount of Masses, prayers and sacrifices there will be for them.
