Almighty and
eternal God, You know the longings of men's
hearts,
and You protect their rights.
In Your goodness, watch over those in authority,
so that people everywhere may enjoy freedom,
security, and peace.
Amen.
Father, You
guide and govern everything with order and love.
Look upon the assembly of our national leaders
and fill them with the spirit of Your wisdom.
May they always act in accordance with Your will
and their decisions be for the peace and
well-being of all. Amen.
For
the King, President, or Head of State
God,
our Father, all earthly powers must serve you.
Help your servant, (name), to fulfill his
responsibilities worthily and well.
By honoring and striving to please You at all
times,
may he secure peace and freedom for the people
entrusted to him.
Amen.

Prayer
for Our President
O Jesus, in Your Holy Name, I
lift up our president to You. I know that our
leader's heart is in Your Hand, so I ask You
to guide the head of our nation in the way
You would have him go. Lord, I pray that You
would surround our president with wise
counsel--men and women of moral integrity who
place Your agenda and the good of this great
nation above their own and whose motives are
for that which is right.
I pray that You would give our leader
discernment, understanding, and knowledge so
that our country may know stability
internally and abroad. I give You thanks for
our president according to Your Word, and
thank You for working in and through his
leadership so that we might lead peaceable
lives in godliness and honesty. Amen.
For our
Legislators
Dear Heavenly Father, I
come to You in the mighty name of Jesus,
thanking You and praising You for our
great nation. I thank You for the plan
You gave to our forefathers by which to
govern our nation and for the division of
powers so that our destiny does not rest
in the hands of one person.
In praying for those in authority, I
therefore lift up our Congress and Senate
to You. I pray that by Your Holy Power,
our legislative bodies would make laws
that are just.
Father, I ask You to give them wisdom to
make decisions that would strengthen and
prosper our nation. I desire that they
would make right decisions concerning the
politics, the social welfare, and the
economics of our country. I pray that
they will be motivated by Your Hand and
not their own personal concerns. Amen.
Civil Leaders
Prayer
Lord, I pray for all
government officials and especially for
the leaders of my own country. I pray for
the president, that he may conduct the
affairs of national government with
wisdom, bravery, and true justice. I pray
for the members of Congress that they may
truly represent the needs of the people,
and work in harmony for the advancement
of all men, women, and children. I pray
for the judges that rule the courts of
our land, that they may balance justice
with mercy, and civil law with divine
mandate.
Grant all of our national,
state, and local leaders the gifts of
wisdom, justice, counsel, and fortitude,
that they may conduct the affairs of man
in accord with the will of God. Grant to
all men the gift of respect for lawful
authority, justly exercised, that we may
live as a united people, one nation under
God. May all the governments of the world
seek to reconcile power with the needs of
society. May they all strive to form
bonds of unity between countries, that we
may one day share a united world of
prosperity and peace. Amen.
Prayer
of a Person in Authority
O Lord, let me learn at
the school of Your Spirit
to comfort the grieving, to steady the
faltering,
and to lift up the fallen.
Teach me to be weak with those who are
weak,
to be indignant with those who are
indignant,
and to be all things to all so that I may
gain all.
You know that I love them
with all my heart
and all my compassion is directed toward
them.
I do not lead them out of a spirit of
domination
but I desire to serve them rather than
lord it over them,
for humility prompts me to be submissive
to them,
and affection makes me one of them.
You know the needs of
every one of them.
Strengthen those who are feeble, do not
reject those who are weak,
heal those who are sick, calm those who
are troubled,
refresh those who are weary, and reassure
those who are unstable.
Let all experience Your grace in their
every necessity and trial.

Prayer
for the Kansas Senate by Joe Wright
Heavenly Father, we come
before You today
to ask Your forgiveness and seek Your
direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, "Woe on
those who call evil good",
but that is exactly what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium
and reversed our values.
We confess that:
We have ridiculed the absolute truth of
Your Word and called it pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods and called
it multiculturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it
an alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it
the lottery.
We have neglected the needy and called it
self-preservation.
We have rewarded laziness and called it
welfare.
We have killed unborn children and called
it a choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it
justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our
children
and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power and called it
political savvy.
We have coveted our neighbor's
possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity
and pornography
and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time honored values
of our forefathers
and called it enlightenment.
Search us , O God and know our hearts
today,
cleanse us from every sin and set us
free.
Guide and bless these men and women who
have been sent
to direct us to the center of Your will.
I ask it in the name of Your Son, the
living Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
For our
Supreme Court Justices
O Lord, I bring our
Supreme Court Justices before You.
Knowing that they are appointed by
man, I pray that You will influence
the selection of each new
replacement. Guide them to choose
people who will judge morally in
every matter brought before them.
As our Justices make their decisions,
I pray that their decrees are in
accord with Your Will, not that of
man. Help them set a standard of
justice and balance for the judicial
office at large, not only on a
national level, but for every
adjudicator in our nation. Amen.
