A Special
Thanks to
Our Lady
to
Ave Maria
|
My special thanks to Her
goes back many years now.
It all began when I went through a very
difficult child
custody battle with my ex-husband over my
2 daughters. Each
week after Mass during that long 18 month
ordeal, I
went to Her altar and asked Her to
intercede for
me, so that they would not take my
children away from
me, like they took Her Son from Her. I
did this for 9 straight months every
Sunday, lighting a 7
day candle each time. And Our Lady
answered my prayers!

The devotion to Our Lady
has been a generation-after-generation tradition
in my Mother's family. My Mother
and my Meemaw were
named "Mary" in Her
Honor. I grew up with the rosary,
novenas, and Her statue in a prominent
place in our home. A
beautiful painting of the Immaculate
Heart graced my bedroom wall
during my childhood years. Whenever
I was scared or had any
concerns, I used to look at Her picture
and see Her staring lovingly
back. This was always a great
comfort to me.

The Ave Maria: A
very special song for two very special ladies.
My Mom's Mother sang this song at many
weddings and
Masses in Our Lady's Honor. It
brings tears to my eyes when I hear it
played and sung beautifully. May
my Meemaw's soul rest in peace and sing
along with the Heavenly
Choir whenever this
song is played.

Our Lady
promised the world when she
appeared in Fatima, Portugal, that we could
attain world peace if we said the
Rosary daily. Click here to learn how! Even though I am
now disabled and cannot work, I
still make a few rosaries,
when my hands are able, each year
to give to others in need of one.
I enjoy making these, and always
think of them as a wonderful gift
from Her to us, as they can lead
us to peace and
salvation.

The Miraculous
Medal
was given
to us by Our Lady to remind us of
Her love and protection. When she
appeared to Sister Catherine
Laboure in Paris on November 27,
1830, Our Lady told Sister
Catherine, "Have a medal
struck on this model. All who
wear it will receive great
graces." On the front of
the medal appears Our Lady with
Her hands outstretched. The
words, "O Mary conceived
without sin, pray for us who have
recourse to thee", encircles
Her image. On the reverse side,
the capital letter M appears with
a bar surmounted by a cross, like
this: . Under
these is the Sacred Heart of
Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of
Mary. Twelve stars frame the
images on this side of the medal.
