| If God
causes you to suffer much, it is a sign that He has great
designs for you, and that He certainly intends to make
you a saint. And if you wish to become a great saint,
entreat Him yourself to give you much opportunity for
suffering; for there is no wood better to kindle the fire
of holy love than the wood of the cross, which Christ
used for His own great sacrifice of boundless charity. --- St. Ignatius of Loyola |

The Beatitudes
Blessed are the
poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice, for they
shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the
children of God.
Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice' sake, for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when men reproach you, and persecute you, and
speaking falsely,
say all manner of evil against you, for my sake.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.

When I
meditated on the word GUIDANCE, I kept seeing
"dance" at the end of the word. I remember
reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other. My eyes drew back to the
word GUIDANCE. When I saw "G," I thought of
God, followed by "u" and "i."
"God, "u" and "i" dance." As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead. My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you and your family on this day and everyday. May you abide in Him as He abides in you. Dance together with God, trusting Him to lead and to guide you through each season of your life. ---anonymous |

| People are often:
unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Forgive them
anyway. If you are kind: people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, others may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; it was never between you and them anyway. ---Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta |

It is
not you that shapes God, it is God who shapes you. If
then you are the work of God, await the hand of the
artist who does all things in due season. Offer God your
heart, soft and tractable, and keep the form in which the
artist has fashioned you. Let your clay be moist, lest
you grow hard and lose the imprint of God's finger. ---St Irenaeus (c.125 - 203) |

Sometimes
life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble and woe It's then I have to remember That it's in the valleys I grow. If I always stayed on the mountain top And never experienced pain, I would never appreciate Goodness And would be living in vain. I have so much to learn, And my growth is very slow, Sometimes I need the mountain tops, But it's in the valleys I grow. Please forgive me for complaining When I'm feeling so very low. Just give me a gentle reminder That it's in the valleys I grow. I give thanks for those valleys, For there's one thing that I know The mountain tops are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow! --- Jane Eggleston |
